Into the Red

I barley finished this before the semester ended but I had to take it home and work on it over the break.

This is all stippling, otherwise known as pointillism, the shark is micron pen dots. I got prisma color markers and tried them out to make a gradient of color. The colors make a rainbow but also shows the pH scale (acidity of a substance), the closer to red the more acidic it is. The oceans are acidifying and sharks are on a bleak colorless path that is narrowing as the pH drops. I once saw a shark while snorkeling, I looked down and saw something similar to what the drawing looks like. Instead of feeling afraid, I only felt awe. The shark stayed to the bottom and didn't acknowledge me. I loved sharks before and more after that experience and I will try to help with their conservation.
