Raising the sky

I was looking around at photos of Orcas when I came across a spectacular photo of one with water creating a crown around it. I used it as inspiration for my first AP fully acrylic piece. I only really used 3 colors, black, white, and light yellow but I was amazed at how it first came out. I had the idea of the water droplets becoming the stars as they went upward so I put in the moon to help show that the splash was becoming the night sky. My peers and teacher felt it was unfinished so I added a bright blue glitter nail polish to complete it. The photo doesn't do the painting justice.
